antoni malinowski

from 7 October 2005 to 7 January 2006

Studio Visconti is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Antoni Malinowski. Antoni will present recent paintings and a site specific wall drawing in response to the architecture and the history of our building. The paintings are created by using pure pigments that gently guide the audience’s glance through intensely coloured grounds and can easily evoke well known landscapes. The intense colours have the power to refract and reflect the light in a particular way, illustrating in an emblematic way Malinowski’s artistic development. In his wall-drawing, Antoni studies the movement of the light which filters through the tall gallery’s windows and echoes the ceiling’s fresco. Once he has decided the measures and the right placing of the paintings, the artist covers these surfaces with lines, normally black, attached directly on the wall. The wall-drawing’s lines are there to trace the light’s movement, to capture its refracting nature and to live with the paintings and the architecture. The connection of light and space is the synthesis and the real definition of the two souls of this exhibition and meanwhile they underline the artist’s language. The connection of light and space is the synthesis and the real definition of the two souls of this exhibition and meanwhile they underline the artist’s language.
